Prayer Ministry Opportunity

  1. Telephone Prayer Chain – started May 1993.  The Telephone Prayer Chain is made up of people who are available to pray for anyone, for any reason, at any time.  There are several links of 3-5 people each.  The chain is activated when a request is received in the church office, by a pastor or one of the prayer chain coordinators.  The coordinators call the heads of the links, who in turn call the next person and so on.

  2. Kennesaw E-PUSH (Pray Until Something Happens) – started March 2000.  This is the eMail version of the telephone prayer chain.  The requests are made to one of the E-PUSH coordinators who will put it on the E-PUSH prayer chain.  Anyone who wishes may be on this prayer chain.  Prayer requests may also be made through our web site.  Click here to submit a prayer request on-line.

  3. Sunday Prayer Room – started Spring 2000.  Each Sunday volunteer prayer partners pray in the prayer room for each service.  They are encouraged to use the service bulletin and pray for the preacher, music leader, liturgist, and other individuals taking part in the worship.  They then pray for the needs of the congregation.  There are also written prayer requests in the prayer room from people who have specific requests.  Volunteers are organized into 5 teams, one for each service every Sunday of the month.  Individuals are responsible to pray for only one service.  There is a schedule posted outside the prayer room for the prayer partners to check for their times in case they forget.  The schedule is also printed in the Good News Bulleting.  Cards will be mailed out a week in advance to remind the prayer warriors that it is their time to pray.

  4. Praying With the Preacher – started Spring of 2000.  There are 5 prayer teams for each Sunday of the month.  Volunteers pray with the pastor 15 minutes before each service.  The pastor requests that the prayers last about 5 minutes each service, no more than that.  You may need to find the pastor to let him know it is time to pray.  Before you begin you may want to ask the pastor if there is anything specific he want lifted up.  Each volunteer is only responsible for praying with the preacher before one service.  Post cards are mailed out a week in advance reminding prayer warriors of their commitment.  Names are also printed in the bulleting.  Let the Spirit lead you as you pray.

  5. Prayer Walking – started Spring of 2000.  There are several ways to participate in prayer walking, all of which can be done on your own time:

    • Prayer Walking the exterior of KUMC – praying for the various activities which take place on the grounds; Outdoor Worship Center, Barbecue Pit, Parking Lot, Visitors' Parking, Softball Field, and the people you may see there each time you pray.

    • Prayer Walking the interior of KUMC – praying for the various activities which take place within the rooms;  Sunday School, Nursery, Preschool, Chancel Choir, Covenant Choir, Children's Choir, Youth Choir, Disciple Bible Studies, and Prayer Room.  Classes such as Nutrition, Yoga, Pilates, Scrapbooking, Stamping, AA, Scouts, Upwards Basketball, and many other activities.

    • Prayer Walking the community around KUMC – meet with the other prayer walkers (or if you prefer, alone) to walk and pray for those within the community surrounding KUMC.

    • Prayer Walking your own neighborhood – walk the neighborhood where you live praying for the families in each home you pass.

  6. Intercessory Prayer Room – started April 2002.  Volunteers commit to pray over the requests in the prayer room for a certain amount of time.  Although we encourage an hour you may pray for any length of time you wish and any time of day you wish, but check the schedule on the bulletin board outside the room to make sure you aren't taking anyone else's time.  You will need to sign up for the day and the time you want to pray.  Anyone can come by to pray after checking the schedule on the bulletin board outside the door of the prayer room.  It is an awesome place to pray.

  7. Prayer Vigils – prior to 2000.  These are organized prayer groups to pray if and when the need arises:

    • World Day of Prayer
    • Persecuted Church
    • National Prayer Breakfast
    • For a specific person, event or crisis

  8. Emergency Prayer Team – started March 2003.  These are volunteers who responded immediately in an emergency situation.  They are willing to come to the church to pray for a specific need at very short notice.  They receive a phone call to come and pray that day or a time that is set at the discretion of the senior Pastor.

We urge you to pray ANYTIME, ANYWHERE.  You will find it is the best thing you can do for yourself and others.  We welcome suggestions for other prayer ministries that we may not have though about.  You may contact any of the Prayer Ministry Coordinators.  We look forward to seeing you name on one or more of the prayer ministries.
